You Know I Have Some Great Ideas

June 19, 2007

As I often live and breathe my computer, I come up with ideas that I think would be really great. Sure, I could do some of them on my own, but why? All I want is to make existing stuff better by getting these companies to make use of these great ideas. So what is so great you ask? (OK, you didn’t ask, but I’m going to tell you anyway.)

I love iPhoto. I have a photocast of my niece set up. My grandma is the only one right now able to view that photocast since she has the latest version of iPhoto. My dad is still on OS 10.3 (Panther) and is waiting for Leopard to upgrade. My mom needs a new Mac. She can’t upgrade that 8 year old iMac anymore. And my sister, who is technologically challenged, has a PC (even worse). I can’t find a decent RSS reader on the PC that will take the feed.

So, since my photocast alone is not enough, I have a Picasa account (Google’s very cool online photo album) and a Flickr account (that’s Yahoo’s cool photo album). I’m pretty much putting the same pictures in each place. What I would really like to see by both of these online sites is to use the RSS feed from the photocast to display my photos. Wouldn’t that be nice? I think it’d be sweet. Will they listen to my idea?

…and that’s all I have to say about that.

Podcasts… Are You into TWiT?

June 18, 2007

A little more than 5 years ago, I found a great TV network. It seemed it was a channel made just for me. That was TechTV. I recorded “The Screen Savers” everyday. Four years ago I was able to go to the studio in San Francisco and be a part of the audience. Megan was out on maternity leave, but I was able to meet Patrick and Leo. What a great time that was. I sure miss TechTV. I wish that whole G4 debacle never happened.

A few months ago, I decided to Google Leo Leporte and see “whatever happened to” him. I found out that he was doing a weekend radio show on KFI (a station near where my best friend lives). He was also doing TWiT (This Week in Tech). Low and behold, I’ve been able to hear from all of my favorites from TechTV in one podcast or another. If you’re into tech, you can check out the podcast.

The TWiT Website is one I would consider a nice site design. Leo’s website on the other hand…

…and that’s all I have to say about that.

First Post about Nothing

June 16, 2007

I finally did it. I am a professional web developer but never bothered to do a blog. Could it be because I have nothing to say? Those who know me know that’s not true. Maybe it’s because I really don’t like to write. Yeah that could be it. But I do have a lot going on in my life – some of it worth sharing. So it is my intent to blog about my beautiful baby niece, my favorite technologies, and my life in general.

Just a quick preview:

My little sister is in an acting school. I’ll be heading over to the bay area today with my mom to take her to class.

Tomorrow is father’s day. I’m excited because it’s a day I get to be with my niece. She is too much fun 🙂 You can check out her videos on YouTube.

…and that’s all I have to say about that.
